I just purchased mine on ebay for $1,595 shipped. The guy had it for only 3 months purchased from BH Photo for $1,829. Hes going to send me the receipt too. He said it was in 100% perfect condition. Did I get a good deal??? I just want you guys to make me feel better after spending all this money for 1 lens. So lie to me if you have to!!! lol.

Did you ever consider Craigslist?

I saw a mark II a few weeks back for 1350 in the Sunnyvale area

Theres still a mark II in Berkeley for 1575.

Now you've bought it don't go torturing yourself with finding chaeper copies, it won't do you any good. Just press on. I've had the pleasure of using this lens on a 5D and it's something to behold. The image quality will blow you away, even wide open. Congrats on the new lens.

That's a pretty good price... The lens is definitely sweet and you'll enjoy it a lot.

It was a fair deal. As someone pointed out don't worry about the deal. Just enjoy the lens. The 85/5D combo is a killer for portraits. I think you'll love it.

Hey, thanks everyone for your input and making me feel better. lol.

I also just saw that ad in Berkley for $1575, if only I had checked craigslist first! I could have been able to take a look at it in person. The one for $1395 or so is gone.... someone got really lucky or something is wrong with that lens! lol.

I already searched the forums and seen some amazing photos with this lens. I wouldn't mind seeing some more new ones if anyone has photos to share while I wait! lol. Thanks!!!

Not to everyones taste but shows what the DoF is like wide open.
100% for the pixel peepers (like me) :-)

HOLY SMOKES!!! :shock: Those are some amazing photos! I especially can't believe how sharp this lens is wide open! Simply amazing!!
Now for the waiting.... my lens is being sent out today! I'll post some photos as soon as I receive it! Hopfully before this weekend!! :D

For a MK2 version I think you got a good deal. I saw a MK1 went for $1100 on craigslist a while ago too.

yep, that's a pretty good price, not quite as good as the one i saw on ebay a month or so back though, went for $1450, brand new... that was a pretty freakish occurance though, i've never seen another one go for that since. enjoy the lens, i know i'll enjoy mine(mk I) whenever the hell it gets here :)

That is a great price for a great lens. I wonder if it is the one I had on my wwatch list and missed? Dang, if you don't want it, I'll take it for same price right now. You done good!
