Nikon sure has been making a lot of cameras lately in DSLR's, usaully they take a 4 year tea party break.

guess the XTi has them worried, but c'mon, *3* AF points?? 2.5 fps? no WB or ISO buttons? still can't use a variety of older Nikon lenses?

Just read that post you linked to... Talk about fanboy-ism. (Although I sense the irony in mentioning this on a Canon forum) That excellent Nikon D40 they're talking about has sold three times in Scotlands largest camera store against something in the region of four hundred over the period of release on our shelves. It's inferior spec, and is reputedly out-trumped in image quality terms by a bloody Samsung, a camera so dire it's re-badge and is made from recycled yoghurt pots. The D40 was a dead duck from the start, and I see the D40X as the camera it should have been all along...

I still wait to see one, but suspect it still hasn't got the Canon beaten. It's bigger brother has (D80) in my opinion but it's pricey too so a combination of cheapness and D80 specs could finally give Nikon a vague fighting chance... Anyway, I digress, the Nikonian poster needs his head looking at!
