My new macro lens arrived today.... and in the package was a reminder from B&H " Closed April 5 @ 12:45 pm THROUGH April 14 @ 09:00 am." It does not specify store or on-line.
Got my fix... thank gawd.

What is passing over exactly?
Another asteroid?
Thank goodness after MUCH hassle getting them to verify my credit card(had to send a copy of my ISP bill, and my driver's license), they sent my 85mm f1.8 today.
I thought Adorama was bad, but B&H was MUCH worse.
American stores have to get with the times and verify addresses by calling the cc company like they do in other parts of the modern world.

I have a problem
I just spent $20 on ebay for an extra battery, and $115 on the battery pack.
Life is good though :-)

Considering I have about 6 things in my cart, I am going to take this time to re-think a few of my potential purchases.
This may be a blessing.

I did order in time but their shipping to my house is starting to upset me, this is the second order i've placed, i've payed for 3 day shipping on both ocasions and both times it's taken 7 full days.
The first time was iffy as it was ordered on a Wed. and UPS does not operate on weekends however this time i ordered late monday night and i'll be getting my package tomorrow.
I know their prices are fantastic and their reliability is bar none...but this is getting old rather quickly. I dont mind waiting a week but dont make me pay for 3 days if it aint gonna happen

Timmy: Note that they do not control the shipping. Once it's out of their hands then it's up to the shipper. If you look at the details of the three-day shipping I think it says 3-5 days or something like that.
That being said, 7 days actual shipping is not good and definitely not B&H's norm. Are you SURE it's actually 7 days it takes from the time they ship it until it reaches your house? Not from the time you place your order, but from the time it's shipped.
I have been ordering from them for years and have never had this problem and I'm on the left coast too. I couldn't get much further away from them and stay in the US.

Actually, Jim, there are a couple of places where you could get a lot further away. There are a couple of islands on the Alaska Aleutian chain that are further west than Hawaii. But UPS doesn't ship there.
I've been looking at prices on the Canon 100-400 lens and have found it to be the exact same price as B&H at a number of places. Sammy's here on the West coast has it and I have had no problems with them. They don't seem to have the wide range of stuff that B&H has, but they do beat their prices sometimes. I bought my EOS 3 from them because B&H was closed for pass over a couple of years ago and actually saved almost $50 over B&H's price.
But I've found a number of stores that have been used and are recommended on here and other forums to have about the same prices as B&H. I buy most of my stuff from B&H but when I want something and they are either out of stock or closed, I don't hesitate to go to one of the other stores with a good reputation.

Yes, 7 complete days, not business days.
I understand that they do not controll shipping yet they do controll the prices and who they use to ship. Newegg.com uses fedex, and their fedex shipping is MUCH cheaper then B&H, i HATE ups with a passion yet it is the only resonable choice from B&H, i dont understand why their prices are $10 more then other companies i've dealt with who use FedEX

My experience with B&H is that during periods when the store is closed for religious or national holidays, you can still order online, however the order won't be processed until the store re-opens. Of course they are always closed on Saturday, and most shippers don't work on Sunday.
Also, even high priority orders are often not processed until the next business day; this appears to be a function of what time of day they actually receive the order. An order that is shipped 2nd day air, for example, could be two days old before it's ever shipped, depending on when it was received.

That's odd - my last shipment from B&H was a film body and a couple of filters - a typical package. It took 3 business days to ship, and costed $9.10 for shipping. I don't know why your shipping is so much slower.

Well, after much hassle verifying my credit card, B&H finally shipped my lens last Tuesday via US POST Global Air Mail.
I promptly received it on Friday! Exactly 3 days. Not too bad considering I dont live in the US. And they even forgot to charge federal tax at the border.
:)
Considering some in-country couriers have taken longer than that, I think I will stick to Global Air Mail from now on. The only downside is that it's not trackable. Not sure if it's insured either.

I placed an online order with B&H Monday night with the lowest-cost UPS ground shipping. It went out at some point on Wednesday and it was delivered to my address early afternoon on Thursday (ca. 64 hours after placing the order). I think it helped that I live ca. 120 miles from NYC.
On the other hand, when I've ordered goods from Amazon that are shipped via UPS ground from the Nevada warehouse, it has taken more than two weeks to get them at times (particularly December), with a good 5+ days for shipping to the east coast.

Not sure if it's insured either.
Last time I ordered from B&H I noticed that the shipping charges had a few dollars extra marked "Insurance" - I'll pay for that, thanks, even though I kinda feel that B&H should be paying for it.

My deliveries have always been 3-4 days. Usually 4. Never, ever a problem with UPS.

My last few orders from B&H have taken 3 days for them to ship, then 2 days to arive. I emailed them my concern about the 3 days to ship, they use to ship same day. Still not bad, but when your in a hurry seems like a lifetime??
