Best mode for taking track racing photos using A80? [Archive]

Hi,
Just wanna know which is the best modes to shoot race cars with a blurred background? I mean like F1 the car passes so fast that the background is blurred? Beside panning the camera, what's the suitable shutter speed, aperture setting and ISO setting?

Something similar was covered about a week ago & it boils down to this: (sorry, I don't remember the title of the post)
There's WAY to many variables to answer that! Subject speed, pan speed, shutter speed, focal length, distance from the vehicle, angle on the vehicle, etc. Experiment. Review. Experiment some more. I've played with shutter speeds down to 1 sec & got some nice results. The ratio of 'nice' to 'crappy' was about 1 to 50, but we don't pay for film, do we?
