An art magazine critic wondered, "Can photographers tease a theatrical moment out of an image? Is it possible to suggest cinematic drama in a still graphic?"

Okay... you decide. ;)

BTW, not sure if I shoulda posted these guys here, or maybein the "Performing Arts" section, eh?

Of course it works! The expressions work very well with the lighting, and I like how the forehead of the asker seems to reflect the light as if he is perspiring in nervosity. My eye jumps from face to face, and while I examine the expressions, a bit deeper each cycle, there seems to be a dialog going on. Very dynamic, very dramatic. I love it.

Thanks Ren, this one is a favorite of mine. It was great fun to create, and I can't help smiling when I read the title and look at the image. These faces are so expressive, and the maid is such a brat... You can see how the guys would sweat, eh?

Roland, once again you are very generous. Thanks for picking up on the drama of the thing. If you look closely you will, of course, note that the two guys are actually two views of the same guy. It is a collage which explains why I've posted it here in the "Experimental" section. But the lighting seems to work (um, well it is a tad tinkered with to make brother on right blush in his humiliation) to explode the dramatic interaction, no? It seems like something out of a grand European costume drama. Maybe one of those slow, introspective, and very proper British dramas which are driven by deep ... deep... sensitive relations between charachters and culture?

I had a bunch of fun doing this. Hope folks like it.

Well, Ted. I didn't notice the cloned head. They were so involved in a discussion that I never thought about that. Really, I think the facial expression works so good that the actual face details aren't of big importance to me. And it feels like the conversation as well as the drama is of a subtle nature...

Yes Roland, this is a collage. The faces on these puppets are so dramatically interesting that capturing them from different angles seems to alter the entire mood. Which is why I created the "brothers" from two different angled shots of the same character. It's great fun to shift the mood by then shifting the lighting/DOF/colors on each character in PP. If anyone's interested, I suppose I could post the originals on my blogsite and perhaps some description of the processing involved. Lemme know.
