I think the word "fed-up" was coined to describe canon's Zoom Browser!

If I buy breeze browser (which I see has been upped $20 since I last checked it out) Can I use it to get files from my camera directly? Can you use it to get files from a flash card reader directly? I would really like to take Zoom Browser out back and put holes in it

Any other Canon Raw Converters I should check out?

Breezebrowser has two different products for what you are after.

Breezebrowser itself is a RAW conversion utility and as such doesn't off you to download the images from your cards using its software.

They do offer a product called Downloader Pro. While I have never used it, I have heard glowing reports about it.

ZoomBrowser works fine (not great but fine) for downloading your cards. If you don't want to put out the money for the downloader you can copy your files directly from your card reader with a file manager.

I would suggest copying your files off your cards as you would any other drive. Then using Breeze Browser to access them on your hard drive. I do all my downloading from a PC card on my laptop to my hard drives via a home network. The pC card is the fastest for downloading from the cards..

I have un-installed the canon zoooom zooooom browser, it sux.

What is Zoombrowser? Oh, the one that I have only used for two weeks. After moving several photos in the folders, it failed to perform.

I have the Downloader (not Downloader Pro) that was free previously. But I use card reader instead and it is much faster.

You absoloutely can use BreezeBrowser to move files to your hard drive from a card reader. You can't batch remame them as you can in Downloader Pro, but you can move them. In my workflow, I shoot RAW and use BreezeBrowser to review the pictures on my card. I delete what I don't want and MOVE the rest to my hard drive before converting.

You may not be able to batch rename in Breeze during download, but you can batch rename files with Breeze. With Breeze open to the folder of files you want to rename, select all the files, right click (or go to Tools) and select Batch Rename. This is a great feature, as it will keep the raw file and associated thm or jpg file together and named correctly. We used to use a generic renaming program for this, but it didn't know that the two files were supposed to remain associated, so we always had problems keeping things in order.

I keep ZoomBrowser for downloading. I like the way it lets me put all my pictures in folders by date without any work on my part. I use PS CS for RAW conversion.

AHHHHHGRRRRR

Case In Point!

Just last night I was using Zoom Browser to download. It froze up on me and froze my computer. This is what? the 5th time that has happend!

$50 would be well worth it!

Pluse ZoomBrowser is slow...Isn't it? It sure seems slow.

What's the fastest way to get photos off my card? (no firewire)

I use the camera right now with the USB. Should I get a card reader too?

I would definitely get the camera off the cord and get a card reader. If your camera falls off your desk, you're screwed! In addition, if you have a card reader, you can swap out cards and keep shooting while someone downloads the pictures and frees up the card.

Today I discovered I did have Zoombrowser! but I never used it. I have been using Canon file viewer util to view and move files from my card reader. Works great,, can batch name files and never hung up. It will work with raw or jpeg. You can enhance, transfer and convert raw files. I cannot find anything wrong with it. I tried Zoombrowser but found no advantage over File viewer!! Am I missing something? Why spend $$$ for 3rd party software? when this works so well?

I have all but quit using Zoom Browser after getting Breezebrowser. You can download from your camera or card with Breezebrowser, but it is not automated, you have to select the source, then select the pictures you want to download. Breezebrowser is a superior browser to Zoom Browser, it will browse RAW files in a size that allows you to see something without having to convert the file. It also does a good job with RAW conversion, it's not as fancy as Capture One but it does a decent job and is easier to use than File Viewer.
I have just begun playing with Downloader pro and it sure looks like a keeper. It can be set up for Autoplay with your camera and/or card reader. It also can be set up for many combinations of folder tags and options when downloading. Very useful for easy organization. I currently have mine set to auto start when I put my card in the reader, then tag the download folder with the year, place a folder inside the year with a job name, and folders within the job name with the date shot. I set up how I wanted the downloads done and Downloader Pro does it all for me.

I recently purchased both products (BB & DLPro) after trying them out for a little while. If you buy them together DL Pro is 1/2 price ($15 instead of $30, so $65 for the pair). It's not free, but it's a good program & the author Chris Breeze seems very responsive to user feedback & suggestions (there's a Yahoo Groups site where everybody asks questions & helps each other out -- Chris is an active participant there).

Give em both a try. You'll see right away if it's what you're looking for. (Just to be clear -- they're both WAY better than the kludgy Canon software.)

If you're really serious about using RAW conversions then I recommend you pass on Breezebrowser and go with Capture One LE. Breezebrowser uses Canon's SDK RAW conversion with a few bells and whistles added.

C1LE is a much more advanced system that produces great results. I don't know what computer you are using but Windows XP together with a card reader offers all you need to download files to your computer, simply and fast (CRTL A and move to directory). A free download Flash Renamer can quickly make any file name changes you might want to make.

I bought Breezebrowser when it was the only game in town but now never use it for conversions, just viewing finished images now and then.

There are those who would disagree. The CanonSDK (Software Development Kit), or the conversion engine used by Canon and BreezeBrowser gives the most true conversion. The conversion engines used by C1 and PS CS are proprietary and not Canon's. Sports Illustrated uses Canon's SDK. Here is the link:

I use BreezeBrowser and I am very happy with it.

Canon has replaced SDK with DPP for the 1D and 1Ds cameras. It's possible that SDK will be replaced entirely by DPP in the future.

I have no idea what bearing this will have on Breezebrowser.
