We've seen some really good Pileated Woodpecker shots on these forums these last few days. Since Stephen, Wayne and I got to photograph a nice female last Sunday I think this is a good time to share her! We were getting ready to leave this particular park when she came in and landed on a tree across the road. Needless to say we hung around a for few more minutes.:D

Your second shot is probably the nicest of this species i've seen in a very long time. Love the thick bark and green on the right.

Great shots Dan. WOW, that must be a humonous tree if the bark is that rough compared to the bird.

Two very nice shots Dan of this spectacular woodpecker.
Is this Mud Lake? Just wondering as Rick and i were photographing a pair of these woodpeckers there yesterday.
