View Full Version : Too Much Shadow in Pic - How Can I Correct

I just purchased the Canon 10d and the Canon EX550 flash. I was using my Canon 35-105mm lens. I don't like how much shadow is in this pic. Why didn't the flash "fill in" more? What can I do to correct this, a) at the shoot, and b) in the software?
Any comments / suggestions are much appreciated.

First off, welcome to the forum.
If we could see the picture, myself and possibly others would be able to reply. I think 80x120 pixels is just a tad small to review.
Perhaps you would like to resize and then re-send
From what I can see it looks like a nicely composed picture.

Yes, a bigger picture would help.
It can be fixed in software (shadow recovery) but it's a lot easier and better to get the shot right. But fill flash can be tricky stuff, so it definitely takes some practice. Post a bigger image and please tell us a little bit about the shot (aperture, shutter, FEC, EC, anything).

Thanks for looking at this small pic. I also saw that it posted pretty small.
How do I post this pic bigger?
Also, does this forum have a "photo album" where I can put lots of pics. Only put the 1 on the photo gallery now and not sure how to ad more without having a web-site?

I've just done a little digging...
You uploaded you picture to the Digital Photo Gallery Database as a demo image for your Web Gallery. The DPGD is a directory which links you to other galleries scattered about the Internet, it does not host images, it simply links you to other user's own Galleries.
you need to set up your own gallery at a site such as
fotopic.net (http://www.fotopic.net)
Once you have uploaded you images to fotopic you will be able to link to them from here.
