With the carnation I'd crop it right up to the flower head to lessen the brightness of the background - I'm also not sure if its just the quality of the JPG file but it looks to be slightly out of focus, ie the edge of the petals are not as sharp as I feel they could be.

I like the composition of the lily - I would have liked to have seen the stamen with one of the petals as its background as it would have helped it stand out more. The first petal in the front is slightly out of focus but that doesn't bother me much as my eye naturally goes to the detail of the flower.

On both images I would have prefered to have seen darker backgrounds as they do detract from the flowers.

I really like the second pic. Very nice. I agree that the background should be a little darker to bring out the brightness of the flower.
