So I joined this club and randomly they let me hang some things in their anual and so I have to a) "professionalize my prints" and b) make my photos look good. My first question is basic and probably been answered a million times over. What's the best and cheapest way to go around matting and framing. I can get mat board cut and everything for about $5 but frames are expensive is $30 for a 12x12 what I should expect to spend?

My next question in more fun for the following photos what colors should I choose for matte and frame?

I was thinking dark grey with black frame, a silver ribbon on the matte if possible

dark green matt with gold ribbon and black frame

so should I try to make all my matting and frames the same color or go with what the photo looks like it would be good with?

perhaps this should be in printing huh? I'll put it there

personally I like all white mattes with black frames. Or double sided mattes that have one side black one side white so that the black shows through on the cut ever so slightly

all strong images, but I guess I would have tried to keep a theme. the macro and flower don't really flow well, and the marco just isn't as strong of an image as the flower either

Can't help with frames, but #1, #3, and #4 are great, the other two not sure i'd exhibit. For frames i'd go with simple, dark, and white matts, based on what i've been told at conferences.

For the frames - you need to get the 40% off coupons from the local hobby stores and watch the sales. My wife and I do this and save lots of $$$ on the frames. These frames are also standars sizes and you can find the standard size matts - If you have a good eye it works out great
