love the sharpness in the center and it blurs as you get to the edges.

I think it is the color that puts me off this image. I do adore red, so it's bizarre for me to feel this way.

I think I'd like it converted to B&W and then inverted. Are you game to try it?

@Athena. I did - and one of these shots have been posted already. Is it only the color, or is it rather the "problem" with the DOF? Well, I should give it a try anyway, as I liked the other inverted and colorized shot of the feather... :)

It's only the color for me. Perhaps because it's so close to blood? I don't know. But the dof is not a problem in my eyes, especially with it B&W and then inverted (yes, I admit - I tried it. I couldn't resist. ;) ).

(It could need some more sharpening and a little manual work on the brightest parts... but I just worked from the JPG, not the RAW source)
