They are getting Bigger, Momma landed on my arm to check me out I think, and she has been running her butt off catching bugs to feed these two! what a blessing it is to have them in our tree's, But I pity any bugs in our yard !!

Great shots Dale. Good to see they are doing good. I'd probably be going to the bait shop for some crickets to see if Mom takes them. ;)

It should work since Mom seems almost tame anyway. If you have any idea what insects she eats it might help. I have taken meal worms out to the bird feeder and the chickadees and downy woodpeckers will take them right from my hand. Mealworms might not be good for a hummer though, since they have a harder skin.

Very cool! :) You can throw out rotten bananas, our Anna's hummers will eat the fruitflies.

I'm pretty sure California has eradicated the fruit fly.

I have noticed Momma is hunting fruit flys on our old Lemon tree, she is really quite adept at this and very very Busy, He is also Gaurding her nector feeder ferociously , and I am not shure But I dont think I have seen the Poppa, anyways I cant explain how awesome the feeling is when she lands on my shoulder or arm, she's so small and I am big for a human ( 6' 4" 340Lbs ) and She is pushing maybe 22 Grams ! I will leave her to her hunting and that way I wont make them sick by feeding the wrong stuff, she has nector and I have set out a box of cut up oranges to draw more fruit flys, I will post More later next week as the young one are stretching the nest out, it is almost comical to watch em, every Noise makes them open up and wait for the deposit of bugs!
What a privledge I am being honoured with here. ; )

They are getting bigger and are finally getting that signature long bill of an Anna's Hummingbird, soon they will be learning to fly and I have witnessed the Momma when she was learning and I must say when they first learn to Hover its the funniest thing I think I ever witnessed, we here at our home have been truely blessed to have them nest here every year, they sure are a gift from ole Ma Nature Too, thanks for sharing with me and I will try hard to catch them in flight training LOL! That one of them together in the nest is so cute, looks like they are searching for their mum and their next meal. Nice photos.

So cute! You're lucky to see such a wonderful thing. Those nests are so tiny it's almost impossible to find them unless you see the mother go to it. I'd certainly just let the parents do the work, even if it may be tempting to feed them. They sure are doing fine on their own. Keep the nectar feeders full and clean for the parents and enjoy!

Well I got a shot and came back outside an hour and a half later and "flight training" has begun and these little guys have it down, they are still kinda clumsy but are fast studies, If I cant get a decent shot of them around the yard, well this one is the last one untill the next generations attempt at regeneration. thanks all, and Mother natures blessings too you, she has us for shure. Canonloader, I just Bought a new 5D on ebay, it will be here Friday the 23rd. they couldnt wait for it to get here, but you shoud see them "Clumsilly" scooting around the yard, funniest things I have seen in a while one landed on my wife Deborah's shoulder then got on her finger "for a short rest, these guys have done us a great service by getting rid of almost every fruitfly in the yard (with all the fruit trees we had a few flies) Jeez, my stomack muscles hurt from laughing at these little rascals!! I am so amazed, seems like just yesterday they were little egg's and now flying around ( I cant tell wich is whom but we named them "zipper" and "Bullet" too funny !

Ha, that's great. I know they are fearless and will land on a finger if you hold it still. I lived in Phoenix for awhile and had them coming to the flowers. One day I sat by a flower, put one of the blooms in my mouth and they came right to it to drink. :D

Absolutely amazing story behind these pictures. As you say, you've been blessed for having such a patient and understanding mother who has opened up her life to you. Again, absolutely incredible.
Is she done for this season or will she produce another brood? Or do we have to wait until next year?
