If price were equal which would you get and why?

Depends on what you need. The S3's bulkier, but has a longer zoom range. The G6 shoots RAW if that matters and accepts external ETTL flashes via hot shoe. As an only camera or a main camera, I think I'd lean toward the S3. To supplement an SLR, I'd go with the smaller G6.

OK, here is the "real" reason for asking...
We have a Rebel XT and several lenses of various ranges for it and a Sigma flash. We also have the S3 but no lens just the "straight" camera. We also have several SLR film cameras (My husband is OBSESSED with them right now) Anyway, I found a fantastic deal on a G6 which normally I wouldn't blink on but it has a ton of accessories:
# Canon E160814 Battery Packs BP-51A X2
# Canon FC-32MH Compact Flash Card
# SanDisk Ultra II 256mb Compact Flash Card
# Canon TC-DC58N Tele-Converter Lens
# Canon C26-2811 58mm Close-Up Lens 250D
# Canon LH-DC30 Lens Hood
# Canon LA-DC58D Conversion Lens Adapter
# Hoya 58mm Cir-Polarizing Filter
# Hoya 58mm UV Filter
# Sonia Canon Snap-On Caps X3
# Canon Foam Lined Shoulder Camera Bag
that I believe would work with the S3 (with the right adaptor).
My thought was that I'd buy the bundle and keep the accessories to use with the S3 and then resell the G6 making a decent exchange. However, I decided to play with the G6 a little first and Ithink I like it--the problem is that I really like the S3.
Now I don't know what to do--I certainly don't need both :(
If it helps in the advice giving process I am really just learning "true" photography (not just using automatic)

If you already purchased the bundle, congrats. If you didn't, and obviously you've done some comparison pricing, I would jump at that idea. You claim you prefer the S3, so you should be able to turn the G6 over with a good return. (I'd still keep both) :)
Congrats on finding a great deal.

I don't think that TC-DC58N teleconverter lens is matched to the S3, neither is the 58mm Close-Up Lens 250D. They won't give as good results as you might hope for, or as good as with the G6. If you've already bought the bundle, I would advise keeping the G6 as opposed to getting an S3.

I might have misread but did you say you wanted to use your compact flash cards on the S3? If so, I hate to say that it takes SD cards

Yeah, I know the CF cards would not be useable on the S3--didn't really care about that part of the bundle as I have a 2GB CF and a 2GB SD

Really??? I didn't think there was a difference as long as you had the right adaptor....I'll have to do some more research on that...thanks for the heads up
