As far as the S/N goes, up to 007000 they were going out in somewhat of a mixed order. After 009000 most flaws/bugs have been fixed prior to shipping. The latest firmware is 1.3.0 and you need to check "http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/EOS1D/1D_download-e.html" for latest updates. There are two tone curves for download that are for noise reduction at higher ISO's and I didn't care for them.
Some of the most common bugs are: Front focusing, underexposing in general, underexposing on the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM.
Feel free to E-mail me for any questions. I have: EOS-1D s/n 005xxxx, 65mm F/2.8 macro, 16-35 F/2.8 L USM, 28-70 F/2.8 L USM, 70-200 F/2.8 L IS USM, 100-400 F/4.5-5.6 L IS USM, 1.4XII Extender, 2XII Extender, 550Ex Flash, MR-14Ex Flash.
