Very cool shot. the crop works well, and the lighting is very nicely done.

I dig this. It's also a great candidate for some moody processing added to it. Maybe I'll play around with it later.
Nice job!

Very cool shot, I love it. Just the crop with half the bike missing is the only thing that kinda bugs me.

Love this shot great play with the colours. If I was to nit pick I'd say crop or even clone out the bike its not really adding to the picture since its cut in half, and it pulls the eye away from the man.
Where was this taken?

I like the photograph a lot. Did you try cropping it a bit on the left side, after the case? Just a thought.

Thanks for all you kind comments, I'm glad you like it as much as I do.

This is the crop I had intended posting but picked the wrong one during FTP.

I also took several verticals of this guy but thought this one showed the greatest character though body language.

Please PP away - I'd like to see what you can do with it!

Taken with the Siggy 17-70mm - a lense that I am just trying out.

I'd love to see this on a wall as a mural in someone's garage or basement. Excellent color, exposure, balance, levels, etc.

I've added some variations and other shots at the top of the page.

Thank you for inspiring me do more with this one.

Please help yourself to try any adjustments.

I talked to him for a few minutes before and after the shoot to get him to relax a bit about taking his photograph which helped but he was still quite nervous about it.

Afterwards having seen what I got in camera I wanted to post him a copy but he wouldn't give me his address, maybe I'll go back in the next couple of weeks and drop him one.

WhiteRabbit: I like your treatment. Can you tell us what you did to achive this?

Certainly ! Here is the work flow :

- Crop

- Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool ( M ), Drag it to create the shape ( around the man )

- Select - Feather : radius 58 .

- Select - Invert .

- CTrl + M ( adjust curves ) : input : 126 ; output : 115 .

Done :D

I think I much more prefer it myself too, though the combinations of other techniques are very good.

The square shape made good use of the walls features.

I love the sound of those things
I am always amazed at how these people hit the right buttons with their left hand on these instruments. I still have to occasionally look at the top 4 button on my 30D / 5D to make sure I'm pressing the right one lol.

Nice picture by the way.

After looking at the variations posted above, I still like the first color shot. The space around the gentleman seems to add to the mood. I
Nicely Done!

Fine shot, especially in colour. The expression pulls the viewer in. He looks so relaxed and self-assured. A great example of candid street photography.
