Hello,
I was wondering if the g3 is possible of taking pics, as large as when u output it to photoshop it takes up a normal 8.5 x 11, 300DPI sheet to use for print, i know it takes massive size pics for web (72 DPI) but when i use the L size pics when i put them on a 300 DPI 5.5 x 11 canvas on photoshopthey are like a quarter of the page, and i dont want to enlarge the picture 4 or 5 times, cuase of pixelation etc. etc. you know

anyone?
thanks guys :D

The maximum size of pics from the G3 are 2272x1704 pixels. This will allow you do get just 7.57 x 5.68 inch prints at 300 DPI. For 8.5 x 11 prints you will only be able to get just over 200 PPI. Prints should still look good at 200 PPI if they are sharp pictures. You could also use a decent interpolation method to upsize them to 300 PPI.

Now, I have gotten VERY GOOD 8x10 and 8.5x11 prints from my G3 on my Canon i9100 and Epson 820. Really, the only true way to see a difference (depending on the printer) between a 300dpi and 200dpi print is to get a 10x loupe.

Are you trying to sell these prints? I have sold quite a few 8x10s and even a 6.5x19 panorama, all printed on the Canon i9100.

See thread at

Also 'Print DPI' section at

http://www.wildpicture.com/pages/photography/dpi.htm

Remember, you 'use up' a lot of printer pixels to print the equivalent of a single pixel from your camera.

Also remeber the viewing distance is key - and larger prints tend to be viewed from larger distances. At normal viewing distances a poster, for example looks fine. But close up the poor dpi looks terrible...

I have a few ways. First is a website with my full gallery:
http://www.sturmphoto.com

Second a shopping cart gallery:
Frontpage: http://www.outdooreyes.com/prints/1007.php3
Gallery: http://www.outdooreyes.com/list/thegallerys.php3?photoid=1007

Third, I have prints on display in a local gallery where the store owner only charges 25% on sales (yay!)

I'm curious what type of pictures sells better? Also, do people buy more online or from the store?

Here is an old discussion on the subject:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=2008080

It involves algorithms to make a higher resolution image from a lower resolution image without adding any new real image detail.

ok i will check that out

i was curious. since the subject is still, i wonder if a panoramic would achieve a fairly decent result after stitching, the 4 coroner images panaoram, not the horizontal one line option,

your thoughts? you think that would work?

thanks again!
