I just got my new G3 and would like to know from the G3 pros in this group if the ND filter in this camera will work the same as a cp filter?? Thanks tealblue

Sorry, what's a cp filter? The ND filter neutrally blocks part of the light, given you the option to use longer exposure times or larger aperture if required.

cp = circular polarizer
Like said above, the ND filter blocks out light. Polarizers remove reflections from glass, water, and also saturates color (making skies more blue).

i used an external ND filter along with the internal one on my g5 for these pics...
i just needed a little extra other than thei nternal so i bought a hoya 4x and 8x nd filter...

No, the ND is nothing like a cirpol. ND filtering is particularly useful on very bright days or very bright objects, particularly when you run out of f stops and shutter speed. Cirpol is good for cutting reflections, for instance on water, and sometimes, at the right angle, for haze.
