I currently have a set of of JTL 200 that I'm using as my primary lighting, but am thinking of getting a set of AB's to add to my setup. Is there any problem with using both the JTL's as well as the AB's in my setup? Will there be any kind of conflict?

There will be no gross "conflicts" in operation. These flash units will function together just fine.

There may be some sort of slight color balance difference between the different manufactures, but this is most likely to be minor, my guess would be that the color balance difference between an JTL unit and an AB unit would be no more than the very real color balance shift between different power levels on any one unit.

But, basically I think the JTL and AB gear will work together very harmoniously.

Light modifiers that fit your JTL gear will not necessarily fit on the AB gear.

This is one of the upsides of studio flash units, their basic nature fosters uses between brands.

Enjoy! Lon

Isn't it true that the wattage needs to be the same in order to have the modeling lights function in a true WYSIWYG? Or if the wattage is different won't the OP need to get the appropriate wattage bulb to allow for that?

Yes, it makes it harder to WYSIWYG your lighting setup if you have different wattage lights, and if you have different brands of lights.

But lots of people, like those who try to use speedlights rather than buy studio lights, are accustomed to seeing nothing before hand, so they miss nothing when they do not have true WYSIWYG!
