Recommendations? So far I've heard mentioned Neat Image & Noise Ninja. Would love to get the nicest cleanest images possible from my drebel. I appreciate any input

To the best of my knowledge, the two you mention are two of the best avialable.. the only other in there class is "Grain Surgery" which I use as a Photoshop pug in.

I have been useing "filter" "noise" "despeckle" in PSE2 and found that I needed Neat image less! I know this is not a do all but it helped me. I haven't read about anyone else using that.. Am I doing wrong?

I shoot gymnastics where no flash is allowed... couple that with the fact that the gyms have terrible lighting... well... I end up using ISO 1600 most of the time. I tried out Neat Image and ended up buying the Pro version so I could batch process my pictures... I love this product! I consistently get very usable images from my ISO 1600 shots!
This is the gallery from our last meet. All images are ISO 1600!

The trial version of Neat Image is free and usable (I assume that they haven't changed it). Just download it and try yourself. After a few trials, I was very happy to purchase their pro version.

Hmmmmm....great shots. I have gotten the trial version from the website. Perhaps I just need to play with it some more to figure it out. I was having a problem with getting it truly fine tuned and getting rid of noise from a proof of my cousin's senior photo.

1. Breezebrowser has a great noise reduction mode
2. PS, as mentioned above.

Have just tried this new arrival Helicon Noise Removal which is initially, and on a small batch, giving impressive results. It is much easier to use than Neat Image for example.
Still no help file and will not handle .tiff files but is, I believe, one to watch!!

It seems that NI has more control vs. Helicon Noise Removal (trial version).

Here is a comparison between 18 noise reduction tools: http://www.michaelalmond.com/Articles/noise.htm
Michael Almond's conclusion is that of these 18, Noise Ninja is the best one.

I have tried a few and have used Neat image the most, but the Helicon program is right up there and best of its FREE.
Check this out... ISO3200 handheld 10D, 100-400L f-5 @ 1/100 in very poor lighting ,indoor soccer arena.

You're sure right about that BigRed!
Roll on the Pro version. I'm still 'playing' with this and continue to be impressed. Can't get to 3200 though - only a humble 300D owner
