Hi,

just bought a horseshoe flash from Sigma. Wondering what condition to use it? Okie I bought it thinking that when taking photo indoor, with a flashlight at least the picture won't come out dark and blurry....is that right? Heard the salesperson about bounceflash...what it means? Then in bright sunlight will using external flash cause over exposure?

hope my questions won't sound nonsensical or ridiculous...

thanks

yeah, use indoors when the lighting isnt good, use outdoors as fill light for when you have shadows or bright BG behind the subject, or when you wanna expose both BG and the subject like in fron of a sunrise/sunset, if you didnt use flash youd get the BG but the subject would be under exposed or youd expose the subject but the BG would be all washed out.. now youll need to scour the lighting section for how to properly use the flash... which sigma did you get? does it support the E-TTL of the camera? if so, great, if not, youll need to really practice your flash use skills. your new flash gun would be better in all circumstances than the pop up on the camera will ever hope to be!

- That’s (about) right.
At least, it will help a lot.

bounceflash...what it means?

- Bounced flash is when you turn flash head upward, sideward, any way other than direct to the subject, so it bounces off the ceiling, wall, something else..

bright sunlight will using external flash cause over exposure?

- Hopefully not.
Outside, when flash is not the main source of light we use it to only fill-in the light and break harsh shadows.

hi thanks for the input....

anyway my sigma flash support ETLL...i think....then the max. dist of the flash is 105mm but my lens is 200mm....so does it means the flash cannot travel up to the dist??
