Hi All,

Would someone be interested in attempting to install this for me. I managed to get 1.3 up a while back but after reveiwing the requirements for 1.5 ... I dont have the energy for all that. But I love what it can do.

I have my own server Win2K(IIS). I would be willing to pay for this.

I did send Pekka money for this way back but never used his backup feature, would like to do that to.

Thanks

Spike

Spike,
some people here in the forum are running EE on Windows servers, I think they can give you also free advices how to upgrade. Maybe it's better you wait until the final 1.5 relase, it shouldn't be too difficult with Pekka's instructions and the help from the forum to upgrade your installation .

If you install latest PHP into your Windows and get IIS to use it, there are actually no other requirements to run EE.

As extra, Imagemagick is the best way to resize, and to do that all you need is to install ftp://ftp.imagemagick.org/pub/ImageMagick/binaries/ImageMagick-5.5.7-Q16-windows-dll.exe and to use that you must instruct IIS to let PHP run exec() command.

I'm sure someone here with IIS can explain how that is done.

thanks!

After reading some of the install and setup notes I read the first thing you need to do is make sure ftp is running under php. Already confused ... I can use my server for an ftp server if I set that up but have no idea what running it under php means. I suppose Im supposed to execute some command line instruction to get the screen that Pekka talks about. Or maybe not, dont know hardly anything about php, mysql. Also, if there is a module for ftp under php how do I use it once I find it.
regarding Image Magic and the various setups surrounding Image manipulation. I read one post where the person asked specifically whether is was nessecary for EE to run, and the numerous replies as far as I could comprehend did not answer that question. Yes or no is what I needed.

I do run a webserver under IIS which I thought was not to bad to setup. Its just all the little pieces required for EE that make it seem daunting. I guess I was hoping to install 1.5 without having to modify anything else.

When I first setup 1.2 it took me about 2 weeks of evenings to get it running. The biggest problems were simple things like "Database Name" from mysql. I never did find that out but I got it to work.

But thanks, I give it another try and keep my eyes on the post

EE has inbuilt ftp system which does NOT need php's own ftp module. Only situation when you are REQUIRED to install PHP ftp module is when your ftp server does not accept "passive transfers".

No. Imagemagick is not neccessary to make EE run. It is merely an optional part in order to increase quality of automatically resized images.

If you have 1.2 running on your server EE 1.5 will run there, too. Sorry I don't have 1.22->1.5 upgrader yet, but you can always make another database for 1.5:

Get PhpMyAdmin from http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/

With that application you can create new databases very easily.
