How clear is your screen, as this photo attached is from there ad, the screen is pretty bright and clear, where mine is pretty dark to reading the text is a little hard to do.
so if you have time could you post a photo showing what your screen looks like.

My screen looks nothing like that. Mine sounds like yours, not terrible but no where near the clarity of that one!

Yes, Mine is also very dim. I think it is one of the compromises they made to squeeze a few more minutes of battery life out of the unit.

Mine is quite dim too.
Not wanting to threadjack but.... I have a problem with mine where the screen doesn't work when it's cold. In cold weather (0 degrees C) I stick the card in the slot, switch the drive on and press the copy button even though the screen is blank. Then I stick the drive in my inside jacket pocket. By the time the card has been copied, the display is working again. Anyone seen this problem? I'm convinved it's the cold as I never have any problem at room temperature.
Thanks,
/Phil.

Sorry, can't help you with that one. Living in sunny S. Florida the only way I could get close to 0 degrees is to go in the freezer with the drive and everytime I close the door the ligth goes out and since the display is not back lit I can't tell if it's on.

I have never had this experience with the X-Drive...but I have never really had it out in the cold either. However, I have had other devices with displays do similar things. I don't know the physics of it, but the "stuff" in the display sort of freezes...or at least slows down a WHOLE lot in the cold. The display on my old car stereo used to do the same thing in the cold. My current cell phone does it also. When it is cold, the display on my cell phone just moves really slow. I guess if it got cold enough...it would probably just freeze up all together. Maybe that is what happened to you?

You Liquid Crystal Display is becoming a Semi-solid Crystal Display in the cold weather. so the crystals cant line up as easy when its cold.
