OK, this is the reason that I need to use LightRoom ... rather than four hours to prepare a gallery this took under two and I did manage a little LightRoom post processing and cropping. LR does insist on doing a lot of things its own way and there are a lot of needed options but it is Version 1.0. I do wish the gallery generator would allow EXIF/IPTC retention among other things.
Styx was a really good concert for me, both visually and auditorially. So here are few images in no particular order:
#1 A Classic McCann close up (focus is a tad off ... sensor wanted that tache.)
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0428.jpg
#2 And another ...
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0363.jpg
#3 And another ...
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0405.jpg
#4 And one more for good measure:
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0729.jpg
#5 A drummer shot:
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0537.jpg
#6 Full stage:
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0095.jpg
#7 And a second full stage:
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0153.jpg
#8 And while a little soft I really liked this:
http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/bin/images/large/STYX0181.jpg
Another nice thing about not hand coding (with Dreamweaver) my galleries is that I am able to put a lot more images into each gallery. This one has 44 images I think: http://www.dwightmccann.com/Images/Styx03012007/content/index.html so go poke around a bit.

These are great. I really like the drummer shot #5. Looks like he was posing for you. We just had Styx & Moody Blues pass through here (actually Springfield) this month. Would have liked to shoot them, but I don't have any contacts for that venue. I'll have to see if I can rectify that. ;)
This time I found the link for the gallery, you've got some great images in there. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Basil ... maybe I should something a little more visual for the gallery link ... I'll think about it. Now I'm off for an hour bike ride then I will look at Wynonna although I won't get that out to POTN today ... but there are some great images in that set, too.

Nice shots! I have Deep Purple, Styx and Thin Lizzy coming through UK next month. I just might. Am looking to get better glass first. I need a 50 1.8 prime.
As for gallery - I was going to be lazy last night and let LR sort out the gallery for me. For starters the code came out wrong and the upload went tits up every so often so I gave up and let DW with the aid of FW do the job for me. Still too lazy to actually sit and code a proper photo gallery site formyself. I just might download something instead.
Anyway - back on subject. Really good shots.

Thanks, She! I took a 2-1/2 day seminar at Lepp Institute (http://www.leppphoto.com/) starting the day LR went public and I have a legal version of V1.0. I also have Photomechanic that will generate galleries but it is even lamer than LR although a great product for image review and captioning ... and they've been promising for at least three months to be coming out with a much enhanced version including galleries. And of course I have the Macromedia (now Adobe) Studio 8 but have never thought to try it for galleries, sigh.

The Styx photographer, a nice kid named Jason, said the drummer had been bugging him about getting a good picture so I thought I'd just do it.

Thank you ... wish I had had more than three songs.

Yes, oh, so close! I actually have a couple of more with that f/2.8 short focus that are a bit edgy ... but not very flattering and I try to use my mature adult judgment about what I publish.

Dwight, these are some great shots of a band which, well, I was rabid about in the mid-to-late '70's. Tommy Shaw (the guy in your first shot) looks almost exactly like he did 30 years ago. James Young (the guy with the red guitar) looks a lot different:

He's the second from the left.
When I was a kid, Tommy Shaw and James Young were my freakin' idols...

I think I was all of 15 when that picture was taken.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Shaw on a few occasions since then, but that line-up is all but gone. The keyboard player split and the bass player (twin brother of the drummer) died...

Steve, I think it must be the other twin brother... Here is my pic from this fall.
One of the original twin brothers, makes a special guest appearance on Bass and Vocals, and performs at Penn's Peak, back in mid November, 2006...(As you can see, he is health oriented, and obviously has a devoted work out regimen.)

I forwarded your photo link to some groupies from the last STYX show over here in PA... These girls traveled here, to the Poconos, from as far as; Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlantic City, NYC, Binghamton, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg... They post their own Point and Shoot camera pics on fan web sites, and share stories among themselves... I still get email form one of the gals... so if you get some feedback from them, not to worry... they all are housewives or career professionals.

Starting a few months ago I now look for potential fan club groupies at shows and give them my card and encourage "image borrowing!" I get a few emails a week from folks who trip over my images. I also get a request or two a week for prints that I must refuse as I don't have model releases.

I hear ya Dwight, I was born at a # 6 or was it a #66 street address... maybe it has something to do with my disposition...
Let me know if the tinfoil had works for you, I don't have one yet...

He was back in the hospital, last I heard from the groupies... It's really not something I want to discuss here though... right? I'll PM you guys if I hear something serious about this... Now, Dwight's picture of Tommy (a long time favorite of the groupies) is excellent...especially the close up...
Tom Shaw, sometimes scans the audience with a quick glance and at one time during that one show, I caught him looking at his guitar and the audience at the same time... I couldn't use the picture without explaining it... ;) :D

Lots of nice shots there, Dwight. I really like the drummer shot. Those are hard to do usually since the light always sucks back there and they never quit moving. #8 is really cool, too.
If anyone cares, you can add the copyright symbol to the copyright statement that Lightroom puts on gallery images (or anything you export) by holding down the [alt] key and typing 0169. This should work in any text editor, also.

I missed this thread...amongst a bunch others in the last few months. I don't see things slowing down either.
The images you chose are very good, I prefer less close ups as they don't convey the "feel" of the show.
There were several in the gallery I liked much better than those above.
I will have a 30 day trial of lightroom when you arrive, so I hope to tinker with it a bit. I'd like to see what other gallery options are available. Did you have the option for image names in the gallery?
So did you shoot these in RAW?

I know you are busy.
I understand about the closeups.
I have two LR books on order from Amazon and they keep sending me notices that the shipment will be delayed ... started in March and we are now into May. I'll show you what little I know.
I don't think I show much in RAW.
It looks the Chumash Tribe has found me from my work at the Chumash Casino. They have booked me for an event on the 15th and we are looking at doing some work at their camp over the summer. We will need to talk about books.

It's a herd of horses galloping and jumping off a low, but wide, waterfall... they are more than lifesize... lots of them, all in one huge outdoor display... you can take pictures all you want around them... and they are just a mile west of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in the center of Las Colinas... They are neat but it really is not that big of a deal...at least to me since I've seen them a hundred times.

I've never had much of a desire to shoot them as here in Texas they are "overshot out the wazoo".
I kinda think we are going to take advantage of two and half days to share and exchange knowledge...I know Dwight wants to pick my brain and he is always a great guy to bounce things off of.
It also looks like "kathy.patterson" is going to hang out with us on Tuesday so there will be at least two really good photographers in the group.....
