Hi guys... Shot this mantid yesterday morning... I can't find a specific ID. At first I thought I had a Praying Mantis, but the body is more stick like.... Anyway here are three shots.... If you have an ID I would appreciate it.. Shot in the Bahamas....Alex

Lovely shots Alex, good to see you finding a few bugs to grab images of :) Suspect it's of the Tenodera genus.

Hi H F :) This is an unusual Mantis as far as the type that I normally see here... It is more stick bodied than what I normally see. I think Dave may be on to the genus... Thanks alot for viewing and I appreciate your feedback.... Take care....Alex

Hi Dave !! :D How are you?? I still have a broken shoulder so my macro shooting is still on a back burner but I am getting better slowly.. This is my first macro shot in months... Thanks not only for the nice comment pal, but also for narrowing down the genus on this Mantid.. It is the first of this type I have seen here..... Take care pal.... I'll try and have something to post, and participate more frequently. Seeing macro shots and not being able to shoot them myself was more than I could stand!! :D .... Take care.....Alex

Hi Rick :) Great to hear from you pal..... How are ya?? I missed you characters... With my broken shoulder I have been out of commision in the macro department... It was great to get the rig in my hands again, and though it will take sometime to get back in full swing I am on the mend finally and so I will try and participate regularly...... Now as to that snow mantis.... They are nearly impossible to see as they are as white as the snow... I would be most anxious to see the shot..... But then again where they are invisible against the white snow I will trust you at your word that it is actually in the frame;) Take care Rick... Thanks for the nice comment ..... Cya soon.....Alex

Lovely captures Alex- as commented above suspect it is a mantid. I've seen similar pics before but of course can't remember where :)

You still have that broken shoulder, man, that is taking absolute ages to heal. Surely you must nearly be on the full mend by now??? Hoping you have a very speedy recovery from now on, be good to see you back in the full throw of things.
Take care Alex

Hi Dave :) Yep still messed up... The Islands aren't known for fast action... I am lined up with the surgeon but I have to get the scar tissue broken down enough from the original injury to have my shoulder screwed back together. If the surgeon does it before the existing scar tissue is worked through, for better range of motion with less pain, when the operation is done my arm will be in a sling for a month and more scar tissue will be added to the existing putting me in more pain and with even less range of motion... The good news is it is loosening up and so in the next couple of months I should be back in full swing..... Thanks a lot pal.. It has been since Nov4th and I am still amazed that a shoulder takes this long to heal but athletes go through rotator cuff and labrum injuries a lot and it takes them the same length of time to heal so I am on par with the norm I guess..... Take care Dave... I appreciate the well wishes... I'll get there.....Alex

That's not good Alex. I know what you're going through, I had a similar thing to this (although my shoulder wasn't broken) several years back after running into a squash wall at high speed, right shoulder first. I couldn't even remove my T shirt for 2 days after the event due to the extreme pain (and that's using 2 panadeine forte to kill the pain I might add). An ultrasound revealed muscle damage, torn ligament and some chipped bone. I worked at Toshiba at the time, so a friend who worked in Toshiba's medical division did some extra ultrasounds for me for free. She was a trained x ray/ultrasound person (can't think of their official name) and her comments were "nasty, that's going to be with you for life". Took me around 18 months before I could even lie on that side in bed at night. Even now, in colder weather, it gets painful. The bad news is that it'll get worse with age, and I'll almost certainly have very bad arthritis in the joint as I get older. Great, not!

You described it perfectly Dave.... You know exactly what I am going through..... I'm already 54... I couldn't raise my arm at all for the first week, and it is only gradually feeling better... I still only have half range of motion without pain, and there is always a dull ache.... Fortunately after getting injections in the shoulder, (Zylacaine and Cortisone) it has helped with both. Anyway... I really appreciate you sharing your experience on this.... It really does suck big time.... I'm sorry to hear it doesn't get completely better.... I sure hope to get it close..... Take care bro....Alex
