Digic III DSLR ?

the other day I was walking thru the photo stores and realised that the 30D, 400D and some 350D were on "special offers", where lots of freebies are thrown in.

my stomace begin to turn a bit, remember last June where I bought the A620 only to find the newer A640 or the A720IS launched. I was hoping for the latter, where IS function helps to elminate the handshake that could have netted me a few more better underwater photos.

has anyone heard of the Digic III DSLR in the grapevine, aiming at the 30D / 400D family ?

Not 30D or 400D. It is in the 1D Mk III.

What kind of features are you expecting from the Digic III? So far, Canon hasn't announced any new features that are applicable to DSLRs. On the 1D mark III the Digic III provides "higher performance and faster speed." (From the 1DmkIII White Paper.)

Lets be perfectly clear there is not 1 digic III in the 1DMKIII but TWO digic III in the 1DMKIII and it can fire 10fps at 10MP as soon as it lands in the store near you. Here is the bad news, price is tba but bet on $3999 or more.

From my S40 , nothing to Digic (S50), I saw a vast improvement in terms of colors.

Digic to Digic II (my A620 & the 1cm marco), I am impressed further.

However, I dunno what do I expect ?

My next PnS camera must have 1 cm marco and IS, anything above 4X optical zoom & 7MP are welcomed.

I am concerned about my DSLR, still having the 300D..... wonder wat is next....

So far, just the 1DMIII, but no doubt they will all get it sooner than later
