Photo Order In Exhibition question

I asked this before but I am still unclear
My question is concerning the order that the pictures are first shown when you go into the Photo Order in Exhibition panels to create a custom photo order. The initial order displayed seems to be random. What criteria sets the initial display order?
How about a sort order drop down box on the Photo Order in Exhibition page to give starting options for an order which could then be altered.

This is on primary todo list for 1.51 - I'll add a choice of "formatting" the list into exhibition order, photo order and group order pages.

Could you please consider a formatting option for the group's index page style with "bordered columns, thumbs below"?
