I did a Lighting workshop last night, had a blast. Still have heaps to learn. We convinced a fellow POTN member to model for us.:D:D The second is not meant to be a straight B & W, I wanted a tint to it, going for a 20s and 30s feel. Comments welcome.

nice job! I like the conversion you did, it works really well here. For the first one, I can't tell if it's just the jpeg compression or if you oversharpened, but something about the image itself just doesn't seem right. With it being gone in the 2nd image, it makes me think it's the amount of sharpening applied

I really like the second photo. How are the lights set up in this picture?

thanks for the comments. might be compression but the USM was on the eyes only. there was a high pass sharpening level also so this could contribute to it.

thanks. The main light with a softbox was on my left and a reflector was low down on the right. I think with this one there was a light on the backdrop also but you barely notice it with the crop.

The lighting looks great but it makes the rightside (her right) of her face look like it's been PP to a smooth tone but the opposite side look un-PP and natural. Cute model.

I really like the second one. I, too, feel like there little too much PP on the firs (can't nail, just doesn't seem quite right).
Good job!

thanks for the comments. I was thinking it may have been a little to bright on the right hands side of her face?

What type of material did you use for your black background

I agree w/ the above posts... The PP is a bit much. However, the exposure and conversion in #2, looks very good! Nice job!

Before you ask this question. Look at the eyes, they are a wide angle lens pointed at the photographer. note the white square to the left. That would be the softbox. ;)
