Advice from you for me about EOS DRebel

Hi all,

I need your advice.
I mostly shoot outdoor, buildings and nature.
What is important to me is a decent zoom.

My Budget: 2.000 Euro
Canon Body: 1.000 Euro so 1.000 left for lenses.

Which would be the best to buy, concidering especially the zoom i want and need. (for example if i calculate zoom on a 38mm 200mm lens i have only 4.8X zoom which is off course, not enough)

Which lense has great zoom and is worth buying for it's other functions...?

4.8x zoom is rather high in SLR! (in fact, it is 28-135mm, right)

Yes, there are several 10x zoom like:
- Canon EF28-200, Tamron 28-300: they are cheap, small and convenient but a compromise on optical performance;
- Sigma 50-500mm, the new Canon 28-300L (seems not yet in the market): more expensive than the above lenses, bigger and heavier. Well, I won't use these as walk around lenses.

You said that you would sell the Sony F828, why? DSLR will not provide much convenience as the Sony digicam.

I can see most prosumers saying the drebel is prefered above the f828...
Playing around withit for a while i have loads of blurry images, dark shots with lights turn purple etc...

In the mean time i found some lenses for f828.

I don't have the Sony F828 but have seen some photos taken by it in the internet. From my limited knowledge, the Drebel is much better.

Does your F828 always produce blurry images? Is it due to camera autofocus problem, poor lens performance or camera shake? (I don't understand your description "dark shots with lights turn people".)

I visit your link but I doubt the quality of these lenses.

I also bought the 300 D recently and when I tested the EFS 18-55 that came with it, I was shocked. Compared to my old EF 50mm - 1.8, the EFS is a crappy lens, of about the same (low) quality as my old Sigma 28-200 Hyperzoom. I then decided to get myself a better lens, the EF 28-135 USM IS which is a very sharp lens.
I don't know what the purpose is of your photography. If you don't need prints larger than postcard size or you just put up your work at 72 dpi on the web, Sigma, Tamron, Akina lenses, etc will do the job but for larger prints of high quality they just don't cut it. Mind you, some genuine Canon EF lenses don't cut it either. Take a look at http://www.photodo.com/nav/prodindex.html for an overview of lenses with a grade given. Any lens graded 3.5 (out of 5) or higher is very good. Avoid anything under grade 3.
