I found this great new book at Barnes and Nobles today. I've always been interested in being able to photograph correctly all my women friends. Unfortunately, the only books I could find looked like they were written in the 1970's, with outdated and cheesy models.

There's a new book by Kevin Ames, "Photoshop CS: The Art of Photographing Women." Seriously, I almost dropped from excitement. OK, I'm a geek. ;) I was in the photoshop section because I wanted a book about the new Photoshop CS. Then I found Ames' book which essentially combined exactly what I was looking for.

I'm new to digital photography with my new Canon Digital Rebel and the world of Photoshop.
I really just want to be able to shoot and print beautiful pics and it would be alot more enjoyeable to labor over pics of beautiful girl friends than staring at bunch of guy friends. ;)

Check out the "Pin-up girl" section. Now to get my girlfriend to pose so I can start working on that section. :D

BTW- Am I the only one who love to be a fashion or big time magazine photographer, on the side? Full time if I was ever good enough. Looks like fun? ;)

PS- the women in his book are extremely HOT yet tastefully shot! :D

sounds like a "quick fix" book to me.
The two subjects take years of experience and knowledge - doubtful to learn much about either in one book

I agree it will take years, but I think you need something to start with. I have little experience so anything should help me... :D

I'm not quite sure about the relationship between the two: PhotoShop CS and photographing women.

Can I photograph women if I don't have CS? Are portraits of men, children, dogs, cats, etc., different?

Will there be more books?

-- PhotoShop CS:Art of Landscapes
-- PhotoShop CS:Art of Still Lifes
-- PhotoShop CS:Art of Street Photography

etc.

Yes you have to have CS to photograph women, the heal tool in CS is mandatory if they are over 35 and highly recommended otherwise. 8)

Yes portraits of men, children, dogs and cats are different.
-Men don't require 30 mins to get ready between sets. On the bad side men just don't look as good 8) (sorry gender bias in effect)
-Children move way too fast so the portrait is usually blurred in some fashion
-Dogs will patetiently sit there with a blank or happy expression on their face.
-Cats, if you can get a cat to hold still you will get a fantastic variety of facial expressions like "why am I here" "why are you not petting me" and the ever famous "don't even think of taking a picture of me" on the flip side the portraits will never be anywhere near a backdrop. 8) 8)
