Oh, man, I hope they didn't damage the trees for this amazing effect! But whatever they did sure played havoc with the edges of the image ... looks almost burned.

I seem to recall something similar from a while back...
The artist distributed lights throughout a segment of forest, and illuminated the silhouettes of the trees with various tones of colorful lights, at different intensities.... It was a very involved and costly process...
This here is pyro, huh? It does make for an interesting composition...
I saw a big event like this done in a large forest at the Boy Scouts of America US Jamboree East (1974, over 100,000 attended)... the powerful intensity of the fireworks shook, and easily, bounced hundreds of people, sitting on the ground nearby for several minutes, while watching the powerful display...
There is awesome power in those displays, I'd be pretty careful...

I appreciate your comments. II was feverishly clicking away, camera on tripod at its highest(the crowd was on its feet...) while balancing my young grandson on my shoulders. I'm quite pleased the shot suffered only from some blown reds! Couldn't remember which way to rotate the wheel to change the speed!
