Heya folks,

Anybody have experience getting an ST-E2 to fire optical slaves?

Let's say I have a pair of Vivitar 285HV's sitting on top of a couple of cheap Ebay optical slaves or Wein peanuts.

Ebay slaves:

Has anybody got any experience successfully firing them with a ST-E2? Of course I don't expect E-TTL2, I just expect the slaves to go off. It would be nice if I could use the ST-E2 to do this job, but if all else fails I can just pop my 430EX and fire at 1/64 power in manual and that WILL do the job.

BTW, before anybody freaks out - this is NOT a case of "should I buy an ST-E2 to fire them". I already have an ST-E2, so it is a 'sunk cost' so to speak.

Hmm? Nobody has ever tried this? Looks like I get to be the first.. I have to interoperate with optical slaves in the near future.

Well the ST-E2 fires the built-in optical triggers in my Elinchrom D-Lites.

They work. Range isn't that good though.
