interFit kit, doesn't work all the time

I just got an interfit 2 light kit from Wolf Camera. I'm using a 20d and a Sync cable to fire the lights. I take the first picture, and it won't fire anymore after that until i play with the lights again, change the power or turn them off and back on.

The Ready lights are lit.. but no flash. If i use the pop up to fire them, they flash every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated before i take this junk back to wolf. Thanks!

Be very suspicious of the sync cord. That would be my wild guess at the problem.

Do you have another cord.

Do, you have any sort of fully manual flash that you could place on camera and trigger the studio flash via their built in optical slave(s)? This would allow you to check function and buypass the flash cord.

They do function using the popup flash. But, It came with two sync cords, and i had already bought one. I tried them all, same issue. I took it back. I would really like to know what the deal was though.

They would not have worked properly with the pop up flash on a 20D. The pop-up flash has to emit a preflash, this would have triggered the studio flash units early, before the shutter actually was open.

So, the on board flash would fire these studio flash units, but at an incorrect timing.

same thing happened to me when i was using my adorama lights. the problem? i wasn't shooting in manual mode..
