Of course it is still a good camera. Just a few years ago it was state of the art. Now it's just not quite as state of the art but it still takes excellent pictures. I bought mine (used) because it was affordable and I was just learning (and still am learning) photography. I do not have 10D or Drebel envy. Just love your D60 and take better pictures than all the guys with their 10D's. :P :D :P

No offense to 10D owners, but of images I've seen from both cameras, D60 images often look cleaner and sharper. I know a lot of that has to do with lenses, but it's unrealistic to think that all D60 owners are using better glass than 10D owners. Just an observation, I could be wrong.... as I am with relative frequency.

The D60 is an excellent camera, as is the 10D, 300D, 1Ds, 1d, Mark II, and just about every film or digital SLR or high end point and shoot made in the last 15 years.

Equally sharp and accurate photos are attainable from any of them, depending on the glass used and the photographer taking the picture. It AIN'T the camera that's the difference. Just because the 10D came out does not mean that any predecessors are any less functional than they were before the 10D came out. A great photographer with an old Pentax K-1000 and good glass will make better images than a crappy photographer with a 1Ds and the best L glass available....every single time. In my opinion, the camera itself is the LEAST important part of the equation. Too many people get hung up on buying the latest and greatest technology out there because they think that owning the equipment is going to somehow magically transform them into a John Shaw or Art Morris. It ain't gonna happen. A good photographer may be able to produce even better images with better equipment, but the technique and skill have to be there first.

I concur with G3.
I'd also like to say that while I still don't have 10D or Drebel envy, I do have a bad case of "L" envy. Just no $$$$. Me and my 28-135IS will just have to become a better photographer. :D

That's because the D60 is more contrasty and color saturated than the 10D. The 10D is actually one of the most color accurate cameras on the planet. But, the majority of people like high contrast and over-sturated colors.

It's quite easy to achieve that same contrast and color saturation with a few clicks in PS.

I actually have my D60's color saturation set to -1 so the photos look more natural.

It's not easy to reproduce "accurate" colours under normal situation other than studio. Lighting, white balance, exposure accuracy all play some parts. Well I find that D60 is very accurate in colour. If a 10D does have some improvement, it will be very good. However, I don't have a 10D to compare...

Back to the topic, D60 IS a good camera.

It's a tool

If you know what you're doing and you know what you want you can even use a *gasp* D30  and take good photos.

I even heard of one guy who took a good photo with a Rebel G II  but I dont know if I believe it.

It's easy to get caught up in the arms race. Just use what you have to make money to buy more and...oh wait...sorry...

Just use what you have and have fun. :D
