I'm thinking that this may be my next buy and I would be interested to know from those who have one, what it performs like. Also, does anyone know how it compares to the 85 1.2 L (which I have) Thanks for any input.

35 f/1.4 is a wonderful lens. Similar drawing to the 85mm f/1.2, as well as similar colors.
It's also a very large lens (as compared to the Summilux ASPH of the same focal length- to which it is well compared in optical performance), though not as big as the 85mm.
I like it. It's among my favorites. Well worth it in purchase. Not like the 50mm f/1.2, where I still raise a brow sometimes in question.

The 35L is amazing! It produces tack sharp images with very similar bokeh! I use this lens for full body portature or group shots and my 85L for shoulder head shots and sometimes full body. You'll appreciate the 35L when your limited on space too! I would never sell either of these lenses. These are my two favorite lenses with the 85L being slightly ahead.

It's a great lens. A bit pricey, but if you have the money, then definitely go for it. I have it, and I absolutely love it.

I can't say enough good things about it. It's a solid, sharp, fast piece of glass.

It's a good lens and teams well with the 85mm. I find it a good "walk around" lens as well. I'd recommend it.

It's the prime I would most like to have - but I got the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 which is 99% there. A compromise, certainly, but not too big of a difference for me to lose that much sleep.

Forgot to add, on a crop camera it makes a great "standard 50mm" lens.

I'm brang new to the 35L and all it can do. While I know very little about how to use this lens so far, I can tell you this much: as far as primes go, this has got to be the most versatile lens out there. Sure zooms are versatile for their zooming, but this baby packs everything into one package. Low-light, hand-held, action stopping ability at a perfect focal length, fast and sharp as all hell. It's a magnificent piece of glass that I can't wait to master.

Great lens. IQ very comparable to the 85 f1.2L and faster focusing to boot.

I use it on my 5D for street photography. It is perfect. Great resolution. On a crop sensor it becomes a 50mm and would be less useful.

This is my top lens and the one that I keep on one of the frames at all times. I've gotten into the habit of throwing the 20D in the car nearly everywhere I go and the 35L is what I keep on it unless I know I am going to take bird shots, and then my second favorite- the 400L 5.6 is on. This is the ideal walk around lens that can still take excellent shots in dark clubs and streets with no flash. It is so sharp the crop IQ will make up for the extra focal length that most like to have handy.

Sorry I completely disagree with you. That difference in mm from FF to crop (15mm) is not any less useful, especially for street photography. Not sure what you meant by that statement exactly. Perhaps not as useful on a crop as a FF is you wanna go wide, but 50mm is a perfect length on a crop for most situations.
