Hey all,

These pictures were taken in the few hours of sunshine Britain has allowed us so far this year...

The background has come out a little darker than I'd hoped but with a f4.5-5.6 lens there's not always a lot you can do about that... at least the colours came out ok!

B&H have got their 50mm 1.8's on back order :D :D

Please comment on your likes/dislikes of these pics

Thanks all

Very nice. Do I detect a wry British smile?

Really, the background looks just fine to me - considering that it is quite secondary to the photogenic youngster and toys.

Wonderful photographs :D

I can't find too much to dislike, I like the background not being so bright or it may take away from the foreground. The pictures look very balanced and some very nice moments you have captured.

Puts a smile on my face, What a joy it must be to photograph the joy of your life.

My little girl is about the same age as yours I think, so I'm looking at the subject more than the technical stuff. What I see is lots of character! You captured that well. Well chosen moments, and a good model :)

Lovely child. I love the sidelight.. and, lacking mid-day intensity it has not over-darkened the face. Out of the sunlight, the face is relaxed (absorbed!) and natural.

The grass cold be lightened in a number of ways. One idea might be to very coarsely lassoo and sample (eye-dropper) the green and lighten (Replace Color) a tad.

As my kids move into their 30's .. your photos reminded me of the truth in the old saying that. "Time flies whem you're having fun" !

Oh how adorable. She's a doll, I like them all. But #3 and 4 are my favorites such a pretty smile. Love the color very good shots.
Them are some to be proud of and memories to last a life time.
Good work and a very good model as someone else had said. :P

Great job!

I don't mind the dark background--I think it makes your subject stand out more. The colors are outstanding. Even though I like the pose in #4 best, the last photo has the best lighting on the baby's face...

I wonder if you could experiment next time with a reflector? Of course, I realize that your subject might have a fairly low tolerance for it!

Thanks all for your feedback - very much appreciated. I'm more reassured by the background colour now and see the advantage of it being a little darker. She's a great model - she smiles at all the right moments and is generally quite tolerant. As these were taken she was about 4.5 months old (is 5 months tomorrow). The entire family are asking for prints of these and my mum even wants one blown up to put on her wall.
A comment about her character made me remember this shot, which I unfortunately forgot to include in the first lot;

Nice photos with great colours. What a cute little girl, it must be so much fun having her model for you. Kids are great, they always are so natural in front of the camera. I cant wait to have some of my own, I can imagine the thousands of photos I will take :P .
