Good Afternoon,
Several weeks ago there was a thread about ways to speed up your computer. It dealt with the start up and where to delete certain items so that you didn't have so many "bars" flashing when windows opened.
I looked and searched, can anyone help me out.
Thanks,
Richard

What your looking for is to clear out the prefetch directory. These are things checked and loaded every time you boot up. It is easy to do so. From the start menu, select “run” and type in “prefetch” An explorer will pop up that contains a bunch of files. You can delete all of them. The list will rebuild as you use your machine. Check out this link. “click me (http://www.hs-lab.com/related/Clean%20out%20Windows%20XPs%20Prefetch%20folder%20 to%20speed%20up%20boot%20times.php)”

I installed Vista and bought a 2gb usb stick. I now use it as a drive cache.
Sped my laptop up quite a bit since it is hampered by 2 gigs of ram and a 5400 rpm drive.
