Hello,

I am new owner of Canon G5.. After using it for few weeks strange thing happened to my camera - after charging my batteries and disconnecting power cord orange ligt is still on even if camera is switched off !!!

Other than that camera operates as normal, when I turn camera on orange light dissapers. Also, I run ZoomBrowser and go to Camera Settings it shows batterie status as power plugged icon (of course power is not plugged).

Can anyone help ? Any ideas whats going on ? Can someone please test what icon do you see in Camera Settings when power cord is disconnected (running on batteries)

I personnaly believe that camera somehow thinks that power is still connected.

What happens if you take the battery out ?
(assuming it is in for the orange light to be on)
and what happens if you then put it back in again?

Check that none of the three pins in the connector are bent, or if there is anything in the plug, such as aluminum foil, that could cause a short.

As Morrisman suggests, you can romove the main battery and the clock battery and see if that resets the camera.

Try resetting the camera by turning it on and press the 'MENU' button for five seconds (page 168 of the manual).

Would the camera be covered in the 30 (or is it 90) day manufacturer warranty? Sounds like a componont problem if resetting it doesn't fix it.

Hello,

thanks everyone for replay. I have tried many times to take batteries out, put back, reser menu and so on - nothing seems to help. Orange light is always on.. And all 3 pins are ok, no aluminium stuff..

I think will send camera to Canon service centre to check..

Thanks again !
