Apologies if this has been asked before - I did a quick search but couldn't find a thread that properly addresses this question.

I shot a show on Friday night and then went to a photo lab where they copied the RAW files from my CF cards to DVD. I then shot another event over the next 2 days and filled all my CF cards so there is no way to recover the files from the CF cards.

I copied the CR2 files to my hard disk when I got home and only 75 out of 650 files open up when I fire up the browser in CS2.

I need to process these files in a hurry to send a proof sheet to a magazine.

All images were shot with a 1D Mark IIN and I use a PC.

Can anyone suggest any software that may read these CR2 files - they show up in the directory and look to be full size files.

Any help would be much appreciated. TIA.

650 files is a lot to open at one time. try putting them in directories of 70 ea and processing each directory. You may have run into a memory ceiling. Also reboot before your editing session to clear any garbage out of your memory. If what I suggest works, maybe adding more memory will help.

Good Luck. ;)

I should still be able to view the thumbnails in the CS2 browser - I do it all the time. I have also tried Canon DPP and Picasa on both my hard drive and the DVDs without any success.

Not two hours ago, I rescued 104 files from a corrupt card with this:
http://www.download.com/PC-Inspector-Smart-Recovery/3000-2242_4-10261986.html?tag=lst-0-2 for CF.
Or this for HDD: http://www.download.com/PC-Inspector-File-Recovery/3000-2248_4-10378268.html?tag=lst-0-1

Tried this but unfortunately no luck.

You could try to download a trial version of iView Media Pro (http://www.iview-multimedia.com/). I use that for sorting and catalogueing files. Another option might be Photo Mechanic (http://www.camerabits.com/)
Does DPP work?

Thanks Rene - no luck with either of those programs.

To date I have tried accessing the files with:
ACR
DPP
PC Inspector
iView Media Pro
Photo Mechanic

All see the CR2 files but cannot open them.

I don't have a clue what the problem is as 75 of the 650 files worked from the start (and thankfully there were enough decent ones for a magazine spread).

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

jfrancho --

thanks for posting these links. I did not really need to use it (yet) but looked pulled up some old photos I have not seen in a while and found out my two 'new' cards I got from ebay have been used before. One took adult images before, rather graphic. I saved them....

You could try if 'extract and save jpg' in Eos Viewer Utility works...
