Got a Markins M10 today to replace my Gitzo 1377M. The M10 is rated for 40kg and the Gitzo for 8kg, look at the pic!
Was about to order a QR but having second thoughts and might be better off with a Kirk L-Bracket, as the M10 looks puny when i position the 5D & BG-E4 on it...
Anyone using a M10 & 5D/BG-E4 combo, if yes with what QR parts?

coorz,
I have the Markins M10 and an 1D MKII. Yes, the ball head is smaller, but it's rock solid when you want it to be and still yields to the position you want it. The correct camera plate for the QR is easily identified on http://www.markinsamerica.com/MA5/index.php.
John was recommending the L bracket for my camera, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money right now (going to Hawaii next month) and I wasn't able to find anyone who had my camera and that L bracket to better explain how it "slides" for access to the remote plug.
Congratulations on the Markins Ballhead. It really is a work of art.

moses thanks for the info. I've found the matching plate and will order it.
The L-brackets are rather expensive indeed...

I have to say the M10 has also been rock solid for me since I upgraded from my Gitzo head. I used to get slight movement when using it with longer lenses but with the Markins there is little or no noticeable shift.
