I am heading off to Europe for vacation and packing my 10D. Do I need pack the batteries separately, or can I leave them in my carry on bag? Thanks.

I've taken all my camera gear in my carry-on and have never had any problems at any airport, except:

...once at LAX a CF card inside TWO pouches inside my backpack ran up a red flag at the carry-on scanner and I had to have everything in my pack scrubbed and tested. Delayed me a half hour and they found nothing -- they were looking for a bomb I guess because I'd loaned the card to my housemate a month or three before, and maybe the thing had the smell of his firearms on it. The CF card had passed through four other airports that trip without a problem. Bah.

Been to Europe many times and always carried batteries in my camera and extras in the camera bag without ever having a problem.

Take 'm in your carry-on luggage together with the camera. And make sure they're full, especially when you return to the US. At several airports in Europe you are required to show all electronic equipment you take with you works as advertised.

Just got back from Europe and I had my camera, batteries, laptop and Ipod in one bag that I carried on. No problem.
