First try at in-flight ducks!

Last Sunday we went out with two other local photographers, Wayne and Dan. We spent the afternoon trying to capture flying Mallard ducks.
This was the first time for me and here are a few keepers, I think. Mostly females I got... I'd like to know what y'all think, Enjoy...

Those are really great pictures. I like the last one especially. I have casually tried to take pictures of birds in flight and they did not turn out nearly as well as these. Do you have any tips?

Thanx, I just tried to imitate Wayne who is an expert at this, plus we had a very bright day with good light reflecting from the ice n snow below.

Great series. Did you use a firecracker to get that last shot? :mrgreen:

No, the birds detected a larger bird that was hovering way up in the air and the ducks started to panic. The large bird never came down close. I think it was an eagle or hawk, but was hard to see in the bright Sun.

Those are some amazing Duck Shots and I see you have a lot to choose from

Yes, there were hundreds, like a large congregation around some open water on the river ice.
