Does anyone know of where I can get hold of a plugin to allow PS to import .CRW images (from 10D) directly rather than go though the file viewer utility. I am sure I have read about it.
I am currently using PS version 6.0.1
Thanks.

The new PSCS version has a RAW plugin that does this. Personally, I use C1LE, convert to tiff and process in PS, but that is just my own workflow choice. There was a RAW plugin for PS7 (which I have, but now, of course, have PSCS installed--and the new RAW plugin is much better than the original plugin). Another alternative to the Canon RAW converter is Breezebrowser. It will give final results closer to the Canon one since they use the same source--it is also much less expensive. I have used BB since my G1 days--and still use it for a number of other purposes besides RAW conversion. All of the above have downloadable demos, so do a google search and try them yourself.

PS 8,. or CS has RAW built in.

Prior to 8,. Adobe had offered the "ACR" Adobe Camera Raw plug in for PS 7.01,.. this plug in has been discontinued.

Currently the only official way to get ACR to work in PS is to own PSCS (8)

However.. there is a patch available that when applied to the very latest release of ACR (the one released to update the ACR included in PSCS) wll reportadely allow you use the patch with any Adobe plugin complient application.

I know that the new ACR and patch work succesfully for PS 7.01.. but I have not heard of it being tried with older versions of PS like 6

Here is Adobes latest version of ACR;

The link to the patch has been removed,.. you'll have to find the patch on your own if you are interested.

Use at your own risk.

OK, I see Adobe's instructions for 'installing' Camera_Raw_2_1.zip, but what about the PatchACR2_1.zip? (It's only 15KB zipped?).
And, why do we have to go to a Russian(?) site without a translation option to get it?
Any help out there? Does anyone read Cryllic?

There is an English sentence on the website that directs you to click it. To install the new plugin copy both the Adobe file and the patch .exe into the file formats folder. Run the .exe and it will make a backup of the old (actually the new file if you didn't already have the CRW plugin) and patch the new one. There may be an error message at the end but just cancel. It works in both my 7.01 and CS versions.
