My new 400mm f/5.6L lens and B+W UV filter showed up late today along with my new Tamrac Expedition 7 backpack. After playing around with everything around having dinner, I went out back and thought I'd give it a whirl. It was getting dark and I had to kick up the ISO to 1600 just to get the shutter speed up to 1/200 at f/5.6. The new lens "nervous shakes" didn't help so I eventually went back in for the monopod. Here are two shots from my efforts.
The first is a Dark-Eyed Junco shot at Av 5.6; Tv 1/200; ISO 1600.
The second is a Fox Sparrow shot at Av 5.6; Tv 1/160; ISO 1600.
The Junco image was with the monopod; the Fox Sparrow without. Not that either one is great but at these slow shutter speeds you can see the difference.
C&C would be appreciated.
By the way, if you ever want to carry everything including the kitchen sink with you, take a look at the Expedition 7 or 8. Everything in my signature fits in the pack with room left over.
