I've been into photography for exactly 1 week (Canon Powershot A80) so I'm very much in the novice class. I'm climbing up a steep learning curve and if possible I'm looking for a little help sorting out an article I came across on the www tonite. I've pasted the link below. I can understand the basic principle and it seems like it would be usefull but I'm not sure what settings to put into the camera. I don't need a walkthrough on getting the settings into the camera and saving them on C1 (I have the manual to teach me that) it's just what to set that's the problem.

I really hope that makes sense to someone.

The article basically describes a technique of simulating the landscape picture mode whilst eliminating the delay caused by autofocus.

Decide on an aperature, consult DOF calculator for the hyperfocal distance, switch to manual focus, focus at the hyperfocal distance, set Av mode with the aperature you chose. Shoot away. Pretty much everything in the picture except the closest objects will be in focus.

Steve,

Got it. It's obvious now but the author didn't mention "AV mode". It was knowing how to deal with shutter speed that was my problem but of course in Aperture Priority mode the camera sorts it out. I'm off to give it a try.

Thanks....
