Please review our Image Posting Rules before attaching or embedding pictures in your posts:
IMAGE POSTING RULES (READ BEFORE YOU POST!) (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)

If you don't have a hosting service or you want the pictures to stay with the thread for a while (especially for equipment problem posts) and need to know how to do it:
Tutorial: How to attach photos to a post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=160897)

If you want to put up a gallery outside of POTN, and maybe link to your photos from here:

You'd like one of those really cool avatars, but can't get the picture right (this also tells you how to resize images for regular posting):

Your picture's too big for POTN (remember, it can't be over 1024 pixels in any dimension) but you want to show it off here anyway;

Nutshell version of how to post an image, courtesy of Frank (PhotosGuy)

Try Photobucket, or another free site.
1/ Upload the pics.

2/ View the 'full size" pic. If there's a (+) in your mouse pointer, click the image again so it's at full size. (Max 800 pixels on either side.)

3/ Rt-click on it & select "Copy Image Location. Come back to your thread, click on the yellow icon at the top of the "Post New Thread" box & paste the link into the dialog box. You'll get something like this:
image URL

If you're linking to more than one image, hit <Return> once to put some space between the images:
image URL 1

image URL 2

Thats it.

THANKS for all the great responses!! That works for the main photo on an e-bay auction (the gallery pic). What I want to do is put photo's in the area where I write my description, and using image URL will NOT work in that area, this is what a Photobucket photo link looks like:

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y63/Calindy/IMG_9356ADOPTION2007.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

How can I make the post a photo for Zenfolio?? The link is below, but will not work in the description area.

Code for embedding your photo in POTN's posts:

http://debmann.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p523082240-3.jpg

http://debmann.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p523082240-3.jpg

If you need HTML code to display the image in other site that allows HTML code:
The code below will display your image

<img src="http://debmann.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p523082240-3.jpg"
border="0" alt="debmann's photo, zenfolio.com">

The code bellow is equivalent to your example of photobucket.com and will display your image as a link to your gallery in zenfolio.com
(the alt text can be replaced by alt=””)

<a href="http://debmann.zenfolio.com/" target="_blank">
<img src="http://debmann.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p523082240-3.jpg"
border="0" alt="debmann's gallery, zenfolio.com"></a>

I hope this will answer your question
