When I download from Download Pro to a file on my hard drive, I find that this is eating up a lot of space.
What I would like to do is to down load the file and copy it to a CD, then erase the file on my computer.
Am I thinking correctly here? I dont want to load up my c drive with all photos, so HOW do I do this? What are the steps? Is there a link to this?
Many thanks!

I am guessing you have a cd burner. I just format it and Windows lets me cut and paste it into the folder and I burn it. Practice First!
Note: I would copy and paste and then go back to delete the pictures if your burner messes up. Make sure you empty your recycle bin or they won't be off the hard drive yet.
I hope this helps.

Make sure to use good quality cd's, because I've read a test just a few months ago and the results were quite disappointing. Some cd's became unusable (and unreadable) within 2 years    .

I use a Apacer Disc Steno, so I can copy my CF cards to CD where ever I am and have them all on CD when i get back home to the PC

I just went through the same thing,,,lack of space on hard drive. Put in a second HDD, 80gig for backups only then put in a DVD 4.7gigs for a out of system backup. I feel safer now and I don't hae anywhere near what others have for backup! total cost after rebates $180.

Like JZaun says, you could buy an (external) harddrive to backup your photos on, or get a CD or DVD burner if your computer doesn't already have one. I have a DVD burner and every two weeks or so I put my new photos on a DVD.
It's absolutely necessary to have a good backup plan - you will NOT be happy if you loose months or even years of digital photos!
