Do these pics look oversharpened? They look fine on my monitor. But someone commented on jagged lines w/ their screen. Comments?

Looks good here. I have 1920x1200 res though. They may be looking at it with 1024x768 which would show jaggies perhaps.

Tripod obviously, but what wwas your sharpening workflow?

Here at work I am on a Dell 17" flat screen. These look sharp, but no sign of oversharpening.

Thanks for the quick replies!! I am running 1920x1200 as well & it looked clean to me. As far as the workflow, I just bumped the USM a little 100/.5/1 on CS2.

No Halo, no jagged edges, Nice clean image and almost no noise. All and all they look great, I've got a 19" LCD calibrated.

How do the prints look?

That is really the only thing that matters.

My LCD at work has a native res. of 1280x1024, but it's set to 1024x768. Maybe that's the reason I can see some jagged diagonals, but only if I'm looking for them.

I've noticed in my own shots that when they look good at home on my CRT, they'll look a bit oversharpened on my work LCD.

God only knows what they would look like at 800x600, which I believe is still the Windows default that a lot of people (non-photographers) never change.

I guess you can't please everyone. ;)

1024 x 768 surpassed 800x600 a while ago.

The shots, at least at their size, look pretty good. It is tough to gage oversharpening with reduced size pictures. You can tell if a picture is oversharpened when high contrast areas begin to develop "halos".

Thanks a lot! It was just a spur of the moment kind of thing. 2 members from the local s2000 club just bought their bikes. I had the camera & tripod in the trunk, so I said why not fire a couple of exposures. Proper photoshoot to come.

What video card and other equipment they're using may also affect things. Hubby and I use the same monitor but what a pic looks like on his screen vs. mine is different, to say the least.

They look fine/superb on my 19" CRT at 1600x1200 and 1280x960, degrade slightly but still look almost the same at 1024x768, and start to look a bit jagged in a few small areas per pic at 800x600

I just set up my new machine, on my dell 2001FP yesterday, and 1600x1200 looks good to me. Huey corrected, it's pretty nice...

I will have a go on these again, when I get home.

what equipment did you use?

I used a 5D w/ 17-40 for the wide angle shots & 70-200 for the rest.

Thanks again everyone!

Point taken.

I should have asked:

How do shots look in thier final format? For example, if that is prints, how do the prints look?

That is really the only thing that matters.

I'm viewing them on a 23" Mac Cinema Display at 1600 X 1000 and they look fabulous! Great job!
