Last day with nifty fifty; sigma 105 is due to arrive tomorrow. This is the last romp in the backyard with nifty and tubes. C&C is very welcome.

I'm sure you'll get better ones with the Sigma 105 though congrats on the new lens purchase.

Species ID for that would be rough, but I'm guessing it's some instar of a common ant, could be queen as well? I took a double take like I assume you and Lord V did; it looks almost like a wasp (sphecid) mimic of an ant (at least I thought so). I'll email it to my old entomology prof to see what he thinks.

ID for #1: genus: Pseudomyrmex (species?) subfamily: Pseudomyrmecinae

That's from my old entomology professor.
