I for one always stick to the 'good' brands, so I would go for the Canon. But I've read good reviews about the Raynox also. What I would never do is buy the cheap no-brand stuff you see on eBay.

LensMate has some comparison pics here.

i had looked at the raynox lenses because i saw them on an ebay add and they were talking about how they only put good stuff in there packages. i was lookin at the fish eye lens because thats really what i want. but it was 370 i saw somewhere. whats a good equvilant to that. i saw some vision optics .4x on the same site i got my camera and its 150 bucks. is that any good. i saw a .5x raynox on one of the online stores. does anyone know what the canon wideangle lens is? i though it was .6 or something around there and i kinda want something wider then that.

The Canon lens has a .7 factor, so the 'standard' 35-mm becomes a 24-mm lens.

well. i looked at the .5x raynox lens and it looks like its wide enough. now. that adapter ra5258 that it sais i need to run it. it looks like that is for running the canon adapter which has 58mm threads. but the lensmates look alot nicer and i think id want the 52mm thread version. which adapter would i need. the RA5252. or would i not even need an adapter? it kinda looks like the adapter steps the size down to maybe 52mm. just guessing.

If you buy the Raynox you will need both the RA-5258 and the Canon LA-DC58B adapters.
When you buy the Lensmate adapter you won't need the RA-5252, because it has a standard 52mm thread.

I looked and talked and compared and finally bought the Canon for my G3. I am very happy with the results so far. It works better than expected and the quality is super..
