ok! another silly question from the man of silly questions.

i have trying to include a silhouette in one of my photos. its a still life and is kinda small. i want it on a white back drop. its to small to hide the light souce directly behind the item. so i have been putting it behind the white backdrop.

it silhouettes perfectly. thats not the problem.

the problem is that you can see the pigmentation in the backdrop. which ruins the photo. i would like a clear white backdrop. is there a way to rid me of this problem. (without useing photoshop).....

over expose it then desaturate the colour out of the picture ? I'd hardly call that photoshopping and it could be done at the conversion stage right at the start.

( or even done in the camera if you shot B/W )

Get a large softbox for a flash and shoot your object in front of that.

Tried (and do you have enough room to) front-lighting your backdrop, but not the subject? That'll need a bit of separation to reduce spill on the subject, but if you have the room it'll do the job.
